NAVHDA Dog Test

This past Sunday NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association) had their tests for the dogs in central WI. There are a few levels of testing. My dad's dog Reese did the Utility Test which evaluates trained dogs in water and field, before and after the shot, as finished versatile hunting companions as well as many other specific tasks. It was my first time at one of these tests and it was actually very interesting (and I'm not big into hunting) But I was there to support my dad and Reese along with my Mom and husband Chris.
Reese did a great job and I was very proud of them both. Here are a few shots I got at some of the various events...

My dad Steve and Reese

This was the "duck drag" event. They drag a duck through the field and Reese had to go find it and bring it back to my Dad

This event Reese had to find the live duck on the other side of the water and retrieve it and bring it back to my dad...he found it and decided to take a short cut down the grass path vs. swimming back! Here he is with the duck in his mouth...

Here's Reese waiting for my dad who is out of sight firing blanks...if he were to go in the water before my dad gave him the "ok" he would have been in big trouble!

My dad fires off a shot and Reese has to wait too "fetch" the duck on his "ok"
