I kicked off this season with Tom and Page and their kids TJ, Becca, Susan and her fiancé Ian. I met them last year when I took their middle child Becca's Senior Portraits. I was thrilled to be able to work with them again! It was a great evening considering last week was filled with rain and storms. Here is a sampling from the evening.

May ~ Photo Journal ~ Baby Robins
For the past few years we've had a robin's nest on our pergola in the backyard. This year for whatever reason I was obsessed with watching the babies. The first two photos I watched the little alien babies beg mom for food and then watched mom hunt for worms around the backyard and bring them back to feed them. Then just 6 days later after dropping my oldest off at school my little guy Grant noticed the bird in the nest and wanted to watch it. I couldn't believe how different the birds looked in just that short amount of time. But, sure enough there she was (I'm calling it a she) getting the nerve to take her first flight. I quickly noticed the other bird had already left the nest and was hanging around the yard waiting for her (he's the one by the tire). He (I'm calling it a he) flew up and give her a little nudge of encouragement and quickly flew away. She then hopped just out of the nest. She waited A LONG while (at this point Grant was beyond bored and wanted to go in) but I had to see it through. Brother came back to rough her up again and then she flew just enough to get to the next board up. I watched her sit there AWHILE longer and then she slowly walked all the way to the end of the board like she was getting ready to walk the plank. Then, just like that she was off! It was so cool, it all took about 40 minutes and I almost gave up on her twice but I'm so glad I was able to see it. I was in such awe of God and his creation. The instincts he gives all his creatures is amazing to me. I thought this was super cool, my family thinks I'm crazy, but, I don't really care!

March Photo Journal
My boys love their stuffed animals! It's absolutely ridiculous how many they have. I wish I could say this was all of them. I know, I know, we need a bigger house just to fit all their stuff! Or, have a huge purging party. But I digress, they had them all out the other night so I thought it would fitting to catch them in their element amongst all their pals.

February Photo Journal
Earlier this month my Kindergartner amazed me when he picked this book up off his bookcase, sat down in this chair and read the entire thing for the first time by himself! I cannot believe what these kids are learning these days. I was just learning my letters in K5!
And then there's this guy who is going through the "surprise egg" phase that my oldest went though around this age too. I don't know how they even discovered them but he is obsessed with the surprise egg toy videos on YouTube. If you're kids haven't discovered them yet consider yourself lucky! He is also very much into Dude Perfect, so between those two he keeps himself very occupied during Mommy's morning workouts!

January Photo Journal 2017
Happy 2017 everyone! With this new year I decided it's the perfect time to start something I haven't ever done before. I guess you could call it a resolution even though I hate resolutions. I want to do a better job with my family to "photo journal" our life, being day to day events or big life events. So, here is my first entry for the month of January:
My 6 year old Bennett just lost his first tooth last week. He didn't just lose it, he pulled it out himself! He was extremely proud of this momentous event in his life and also, for the fact that HE pulled it out, as well he should be! It's too tiny to see, but, he is, with his brand new grin, holding his baby tooth in his fingers.
I don't know why, but sometimes I just love watching my kids eat. My youngest Grant is now the only one home with me during the day while his brother is at school. The kid is the slowest eater, ever! I had finished my lunch and was doing something in the next room and when I looked over at that sweet soul sitting there on his knees, by himself, eating his lunch (yes it's lunch and he's still in his pjs, don't judge) my heart melted and I knew this was a moment I wanted to remember. This is what got me started on this journey of capturing the day to day and making special memories with it.
My poor cat Miles gets a bit neglected sometimes and I can't even tell you the last time I took his picture. The other night we had a fire in the fireplace and every time we do Miles is right there laying in front of it, basking in the heat. He cooperated long enough for me to snap a few pics of him doing what he does best. Chillin. He is after all named after Miles Davis because he's just a cool cat...

Molly ~ Pewaukee High School 2017
Molly, my pretty ballerina, was my last senior for the class of 2017, she was a great end to a great season! I loved so many of her pictures I had a hard time narrowing it down to just a few to blog. And I had to throw in the side by side comparison of her and her sister Lucy! They look so much alike!

MacKenzie ~ Pewaukee High School 2017
I was crazy busy in October finishing up all my seniors before the yearbook deadline and neglected to blog my last two senior ladies! So today is MacKenzie's day! Her's was my last of many shoots at Frame Park in Waukesha this year. Here are a few from the evening!
