For the past few years we've had a robin's nest on our pergola in the backyard. This year for whatever reason I was obsessed with watching the babies. The first two photos I watched the little alien babies beg mom for food and then watched mom hunt for worms around the backyard and bring them back to feed them. Then just 6 days later after dropping my oldest off at school my little guy Grant noticed the bird in the nest and wanted to watch it. I couldn't believe how different the birds looked in just that short amount of time. But, sure enough there she was (I'm calling it a she) getting the nerve to take her first flight. I quickly noticed the other bird had already left the nest and was hanging around the yard waiting for her (he's the one by the tire). He (I'm calling it a he) flew up and give her a little nudge of encouragement and quickly flew away. She then hopped just out of the nest. She waited A LONG while (at this point Grant was beyond bored and wanted to go in) but I had to see it through. Brother came back to rough her up again and then she flew just enough to get to the next board up. I watched her sit there AWHILE longer and then she slowly walked all the way to the end of the board like she was getting ready to walk the plank. Then, just like that she was off! It was so cool, it all took about 40 minutes and I almost gave up on her twice but I'm so glad I was able to see it. I was in such awe of God and his creation. The instincts he gives all his creatures is amazing to me. I thought this was super cool, my family thinks I'm crazy, but, I don't really care!
